This website should be a Tool for linking the Land Administration Chain together.
There is basically one thing that can make it possible to take a step forward: A strong and genuine Partnership, stretching out to reach each other!
We aim to make a difference by seeking real-life experience brought to the table by each participant. The website will enable both discussion and selection of relevant activities, experiences etc that can be of interest to include as inputs to the Stockholm seminar. The purpose is to make sure that key persons for the 2008 seminar meet at the same time that we pick up key actors, persons and projects that we haven't yet identified. Proposals for facilitators to the Seminar are also most welcome.
A good Network expands gradually:
- FIG and UN-Habitat decided to join forces in this project at WUF III in Vancouver June 2006.
- A Working Group, 9 persons, established at FIG XXIII International Conference in Munich October 2006.
- Start of the dialogues in Hong Kong will engage 30+ participants
- The preparation phase is envisaged to engage around 50 experts and practitioners.
- In the Stockholm seminar and workshops is a representative and well-balanced group of 120+ persons are expected. Around 20 participants in each workshop. Geographic spread will be sought; around 2/3 travelling from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe.
To be a Participant to this virtual Network, you need a Password. This Core group of Participants, contributing to the various themes will consist of the practitioners- the ones’ with tangible experience, and advisors to policy and decision makers at adequate level, other knowledge providers – amongst these we find the surveyors, planners, real estate managers, financial experts (in housing as well as banking), researchers, financiers –and actors from the financial markets, formal as well as informal ODA people, slum dwellers (representative organisations) and users- people responsible for housing (representative selection) and inhabitants in the slum. What should be noted is though that the creation of markets with a varying degree of formality is a process where roles and responsibilities often are mixed and seldom fully understood! There are no strict borders between these groups. In fact the same person can be part of more than one group.
